The Netherlands has begun a strict lockdown over Christmas amid issues over the Omicron coronavirus variant.
Non-essential outlets, bars, gyms, hairdressers and different public venues are closed till at the least 14 January. Two visitors per family will likely be allowed – 4 over the vacations.
Prime Minister Mark Rutte mentioned the measures had been “unavoidable”.
