Some cruise passengers and staff with COVID-19 described their isolation experiences aboard ships.

They stated they endured rotten food, hours without water, and loneliness, per The Washington Post.

“They were like, ‘We’re going to give you the minimum you need to survive,'” one passenger stated.

Contracting COVID-19 on vacation and having to isolate as an alternative of having fun with your self is a disappointing sufficient expertise.

But, in accordance with The Washington Post, some quarantined cruise staff and passengers aboard the Norwegian Getaway and Royal Caribbean ships, stated their state of affairs grew even worse when they were served rotten or in any other case insufficient food.

Others stated they were left without consuming water for hours.

Frank Rebelo, 54, a passenger on the Norwegian Getaway advised the outlet that after contracting COVID-19, he was compelled to isolate in his room and might solely order food from the room service menu.

Cases onboard cruise ships have been rising in latest weeks. As of Friday, 91 US cruise ships at sea had confirmed or suspected COVID-19 circumstances on board, in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

An unidentified crew member aboard the Royal Caribbean’s Odyssey of the Seas advised The Post she discovered her lunch outdoors her room someday throughout her isolation. “One night my dinner was like just a box of rice. Nothing else. Not even a roll or a vegetable,” she stated. “Just rice. I was like, cool, glad I have a box of Pop Tarts in my room.”

Another former staff member on Oasis, Ovation and Harmony of the Seas, stated that in his quarantine interval he was served inedible food, together with a rotting orange. Another meal consisted of a small scoop of rice, a hard-boiled egg, and a meager portion of corned beef hash, he advised the outlet.

Recently, passengers on Cunard Line’s Queen Mary 2 cruise ship stated they felt “like lepers” and were served “stone-cold” food after they were compelled to isolate in cabins throughout a COVID-19 outbreak.
