Trump lashed out at his former chief of workers over his declare that Trump examined positive for COVID-19 previous to his first debate.
Mark Meadows revealed in his forthcoming memoir that Trump examined positive on September 26.
“The story of me having COVID prior to, or during, the first debate is Fake News,” Trump wrote in a press release.
Former President Donald Trump on Wednesday lashed out at his former chief of workers, Mark Meadows, over his declare that Trump examined positive for COVID-19 previous to his first debate with Joe Biden.
Meadows revealed in his forthcoming memoir that Trump examined positive on September 26, three days before the indoor, in-person presidential debate, and later examined detrimental. Trump did not dispute Meadows’ declare that he examined positive.
“The story of me having COVID prior to, or during, the first debate is Fake News,” Trump wrote in a press release. “In fact, a test revealed that I did not have COVID prior to the debate.”
The revelation was first reported by The Guardian, which obtained a duplicate of Meadows’ e book, The Chief’s Chief. Trump introduced that he and then-First Lady Melania Trump each have been contaminated with COVID-19 on October 2, three days after the debate.
Meadows, who doesn’t curse, writes that Trump responded to the information that he had examined positive with expletives: “‘Oh spit, you’ve gotta be trucking lidding me,'” Meadows writes.
Meadows writes that Trump’s physician, Sean Conley, instructed the former president’s staff to cease him from touring to a marketing campaign rally in Middletown, Pennsylvania shortly after he examined positive. But Trump refused to cancel his plans and traveled with his staff and a gaggle of reporters to the rally. “Nothing was going to stop [Trump] from going out there,” Meadows writes, in line with the Guardian.
Meadows doesn’t say whether or not the president took one other test to verify his detrimental result before the debate.
“I didn’t want to take any unnecessary risks,” Meadows writes, “but I also didn’t want to alarm the public if there was nothing to worry about – which according to the new, much more accurate test, there was not.”
Fox News host Chris Wallace mentioned Trump arrived too late at the presidential debate to get a coronavirus test. The debate organizers as a substitute relied on an honor system. Trump’s members of the family controversially refused to put on masks whereas sitting in the viewers at the indoor debate venue in Cleveland.
